Sarasgad Fort, a majestic fort perched on a 490-meter hill near Pali in Raigad district, Maharashtra, is a testament to India’s rich history. This strategically important fort was once under the control of Malik Ahmad Nizam Shah 1 before falling into the hands of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Known locally as “Pagadicha Killa” due to its distinctive shape, Sarasgad offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. Its historical significance is further enhanced by the presence of a Portuguese bell gifted by Chimaji Appa, a prominent Maratha general.
While the fort lacks extravagant ruins, its natural fortifications and strategic location speak volumes about its historical importance. Discover the remnants of a bygone era as you explore this hidden gem nestled amidst the Sahyadri mountains.
