MIT-WPU Nisargvedh: Trek to Kusur Plateau

1 Day

The Kusur Plateau, an unspoiled expanse nestled within the Sahyadri mountain range, offers a unique trekking experience. Located approximately 65 kilometers from Pune, near the charming towns of Kamshet and Lonavala, this plateau is a haven for nature enthusiasts.

Characterized by its diverse flora, dense forests, and misty allure, the Kusur Plateau is home to a variety of wildlife. While human encounters with these creatures are rare, their presence is evident in the form of footprints and other traces.

The trek to the plateau commences from the village of Vadeshwar, situated 15 kilometers from Kanhe Phata on the old Pune-Mumbai highway. Initially, the trail winds through lush paddy fields before delving into the embracing embrace of the forest. Emerging from the verdant canopy, trekkers are greeted by the open expanse of the Kusur plateau.

This plateau, spanning approximately 20 to 30 square kilometers, is a captivating tapestry of nature’s artistry. As one explores this enchanting landscape, a local temple dedicated to Waghoba comes into view, standing as a testament to the region’s cultural heritage. The plateau also offers breathtaking vistas of the Thokarwadi dam’s backwaters, adding another layer of scenic beauty to this extraordinary adventure.
