Hidden within the Langtang National Park, the Langtang Valley Trek offers a serene and less-traveled adventure in Nepal. This relatively easy trek is ideal for those seeking a taste of the Himalayas without the crowds.

The trail winds through diverse landscapes, from lush rhododendron forests to alpine meadows and towering peaks. Encounter remote villages, terraced fields, and deep gorges as you journey through this captivating valley. The presence of grazing yaks, rare wildlife, and towering glaciers adds to the allure of this trek.

Kyanjin Gompa, the highest village in the valley at 3,860 meters, serves as a base for exploring the surrounding area and enjoying stunning views. Day hikes to nearby peaks and lakes offer opportunities for breathtaking vistas and challenging adventures.

The Langtang Valley was devastated by the 2015 earthquake, but the village has since been rebuilt. The region is rich in biodiversity, home to endangered species like the Himalayan red panda, pika, and musk deer.

The best time to embark on the Langtang Valley Trek is during the pre-monsoon months (March-June) or the post-monsoon months (September-December).

Why go for the Langtang Valley Trek?

The Langtang Valley is way less crowded than Everest Base Camp Trek or the Annapurna Circuit. There are no 8000m peaks here, but Langtang Lirung rises well over 7000m and its east face rears up for more than 3km (the same as the difference between Everest and its base camp). The village of Kyanjin Gompa is surrounded by snowy peaks on all sides, and if you head farther up the valley to the shrines of Langshisa Kharka, you’ll have breathtaking views all around. A vast wall of peaks lies between you and Tibet and to the south Ganchenpo (Fluted Mountain) climbs gracefully into the heavens.

Trek Fees:
For Indian Passport holders: INR 60,000 + GST (5%)
For Non Indian Passport holders: INR 75,000 + GST (5%)

Important note regarding TCS:
Additional 5 % of TCS from every participant will be collected and filed to the income tax department against the PAN of that individual. The same will be displayed in the form 26AS for that particular quarter. So, the total amount after TCS will be as below:

Day 1 :

Arrive in Kathmandu (1400m)

Arrive in Kathmandu, the vibrant capital of Nepal. Check into your hotel and rest after your long journey. Explore the city's bustling Thamel district, visit the Boudhanath Stupa, or relax at a local café.

Day 2 :

Drive to Syabru Besi (1460m)

Embark on a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi, the starting point of the Langtang Valley Trek. The drive takes approximately 7-8 hours, passing through picturesque villages and offering stunning views of the Himalayas.

Day 3 :

Trek to Bamboo

Continue your trek, ascending to bamboo, a higher altitude camp with stunning views of the Valley. The trail passes through beautiful meadows and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

Day 4 :

Trek to Lama Hotel (2470m)

Begin your trek, following the Langtang River through lush forests and terraced fields. The trail passes through several small villages, including Rimche and Ghoda Tabela. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and acclimatize to the increasing altitude.

Day 5 :

Trek to Langtang Village (3830m)

Continue trekking along the Langtang River, passing through charming villages and enjoying panoramic views of the Langtang Lirung peak. Reach Langtang Village, a small village nestled in a valley. Explore the village's ruins and learn about the devastating earthquake of 2015.

Day 6 :

Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3860m)

Ascend to Kyanjin Gompa, the highest village in the Langtang Valley. Enjoy the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and visit the local monastery.

Day 7 :

Hike to Kyanjin Ri View Point(4600m) & back to Kyanjin

Kyanjin Ri Viewpoint offers a breathtaking panorama of the Langtang Valley. This challenging day hike rewards trekkers with stunning vistas of towering peaks like Langtang Lirung and Yala Peak. To enjoy this experience, ensure proper acclimatization and pack essentials like water, snacks, and warm clothing. With careful planning and pacing, you can create unforgettable memories in this pristine Himalayan landscape.

Day 8 :

Trek to Ghora Tabela(2970m)

Ghora Tabela is a small village located in the Langtang Valley, Nepal. It's a popular stopping point for trekkers on the way from Langtang Village and Kyanjin Gompa. The village offers basic accommodation and dining options for trekkers.

Day 9 :

Trek to Syabru Besi (1470m)

Descend to Syabru Besi, the starting point of the trek. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and the sense of accomplishment.

Day 10 :

Drive Back to Kathmandu

Take a scenic drive from Syabru Besi back to Kathmandu. Relax and reflect on your adventure.

Day 11 :

Buffeer day in Kathmandu

Explore Kathmandu at your own pace. Visit historical sites, shop for souvenirs, or relax at a local café.

Day 12 :

Departure for Home

1.How safe is this trek?

This is one of the safest of the high-altitude treks with medical and evacuation facility. But you should try not to be beneficiary of these facilities which surely make a hole in your pockets. You must listen to the GAF team’s advice. Before the trek, you should follow a fitness training module to prepare for this trek. We will share a training module with you once you register for the trek.

2.Give me some tips about level of fitness required

Trekkers are supposed to be in good physical conditions. You should increase the level of intensity of training over 2-3 months period. Apart from daily fitness, you should carry 4-6 KG load on your back during the practice treks. It will help you simulate the trekking conditions. This trek has uphill as well as downhill trails and on some specific trails, you may even have to climb little steeper.

3.Climate and min temperatures during the trek

Climate is generally pleasant during the day time. As the evening approaches, it starts becoming colder. At night, temperatures may reach subzero levels. Care must be taken to have appropriate warm clothing. The hotels provide blankets at night. However, you may need a sleeping bag as the weather gets very cold. We recommend to rent down jackets and from local shops in case you don’t have them.

How is the food and accommodation during the trek?

You will be staying hotels on a twin/triple sharing basis. All the beds are provided with blankets. Common dining hall has a heater to warm your bodies. Generally, the breakfast menu is like Musli- milk, Omelet- bread- butter, pan cakes etc. For Lunch we mostly recommend Daal-bhat (local Nepali cuisine) and at dinner, there are many options. You can choose whatever you want from the menu. We recommend not to eat non veg during the trek as it is generally not a fresh meat. We will serve you hot water for drinking. There is a famous Sherpa mantra for food during the trek: “Daal –bhat power, 24 hour!”
