The Chenab Valley encompasses a picturesque river valley carved by the majestic Chenab River. Additionally, the term “Chenab Valley” is often employed to refer to the combined regions of Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban districts in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chenab Valley boasts stunning meadows, verdant forests, cascading waterfalls, picturesque valleys, hidden villages, diverse tribes, and a rich cultural heritage. The region is abundant with freshwater streams, snow-capped mountain peaks, and sacred sites. It offers tremendous opportunities for trekking and leisure tourism. In the past, high-altitude trekking in the Chenab region was highly popular and well-regarded throughout India. Few Trekking Places are Bhaderwah, Lal Draman, Dal Draman, Desa Trek, Famber Valley, Marwah Trek, Dachaan Trek, Padar, Sinthantop, Warwan Valley, Killar, Panghi, Trek of Blessa and different treks of Bhaderwah and Kellar Valley, Bharat Dhar, Brammah Valley, Sapphire Trek, Warwan Valley etc.

Overview

The Brammah Valley trek in Kishtwar is a truly unique experience, offering unparalleled close-up views of four towering 6,000+ meter peaks, showcasing nearly 4,000 meters of their vertical height—almost double what’s visible on other popular treks. The Kiddar Maidan campsite, nestled in a river delta, provides stunning panoramic views of Eiger, Tarparan, Brammah I, and Brammah Wife. Beyond the breathtaking scenery, the trek provides rich cultural immersion, offering a glimpse into Kishtwar’s distinctive culture, where temples and mosques coexist, and showcasing unique local architecture in hillside villages. The journey traverses the heart of Kishtwar National Park, known for its dense, gently ascending coniferous forests, including a variety of species like Chir pines, Deodars, and Abies pindrow, interspersed with maples and a silver birch forest near Kiddar Maidan. The Nath river accompanies trekkers throughout, its sound a constant presence in the forests, eventually fading into silence at the serene Kiddar Maidan campsite, located in expansive grasslands beside the quietly flowing river, considered one of the most beautiful campsites. Kishtwar’s mountainous isolation has preserved its unique character, and the trek showcases the valley’s alpine meadows and high-altitude wetlands, offering a world of discovery, making it a truly exceptional experience.
