Mt. Elbrus Expedition 5,642 m (Russia)

8 Days

Overview

Mount Elbrus is the highest and most prominent peak in Russia and Europe. It is situated in the western part of the Caucasus and is the highest peak of the Caucasus Mountains. Considered as one of the seven summits, this dormant volcanic mountain rises 5,642 m (18,510 ft) above sea level. There are two summits, one is the West summit and other is East. We, at GAF attempt west summit which is 5,642 m. West summit has mainly two routes. One is the south route and other is the north route. Our itinerary follows the southern route as it is comparatively easier, but still one requires above average physical fitness and experience of going to high altitude.

GAF puts paramount focus on Thorough Preparation, Absolute Safety and Sufficient Acclimatization of  the team. For that purpose, we have chosen Machame route with 6 climbing days which makes it an optimally paced trek with enough acclimatization.

Here’s a link to know about high altitude challenges and how to deal with them.
