Overview

Dhakuri, a small yet beautiful meadow is located in the laps of nature surrounded by horse chestnut and evergreen oak forest. It is also a pass which is an opening to the spectacular view of Sundardunga Valley and and Pindhari Valley. Situated at an altitude of 2500m, Dhakuri proves to be a very comfortable stay even in snowy conditions.

The Chiltha Mata Temple, which is located on Dhakuri top at 3000m gives you an unforgettable experience of the panoramic views peaks like Trishul, Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot, Nandna Kath etc. The hike to Dhakuri top involves climbing some steep sections but once you reach the top, you will feel like – “hard work eventually pays off” !!

Day 1 :

Reporting at Kathgodam and Drive to Loharkhet

Arrive at Kathgodam railway station early morning. You will start your journey to Loharkhet in private vehicle (depending upon total no. of members). Total travel duration is around 7-8 hrs. Stay at KMVN guest house / tents in Loharkhet.

Day 2 :

Trek from Loharkhet to Dhakuri (Stay at Dhakuri)

Today, you will start the trek and it is a bit steeper for the first couple of hours. You will hike through dense forest till you reach the beautiful Dhakuri pass. Witness the pristine Dhakuri campsite where you will camp for two nights. Total trekking time is around 4 -6 hrs.

Day 3 :

Trek from Dhakuri to Dhakuri top (10,500 feet ; 3,200 m) and return to Dhakuri (Stay at Dhakuri)

You will start the height gain early morning to reach the highest point of the trek - Dhakuri Top at 3200m. On the way, you will come across Chiltha Mata Temple which is situated just below the Dhakuri Top. After spending some time on the top, you will return to Dhakuri campsite.
Total trekking time is around 4-5 hrs.

Day 4 :

Trek from Dhakuri to Dhur / Kharkiya and drive to Bageshwar (Stay at Bageshwar)

Start your trek after nice hot breakfast and head towards Dhur / Kharkiya. You have to climb down and reach the road head where jeeps will be arranged. Drive to Bageshwar takes around 2 hours. Check in to the hotel and relax for the evening.

Day 5 :

Drive from Bageshwar to Kathgodam

After breakfast, you will start your return journey towards Kathgodam. It will take around 8 hrs to reach Kathgodam. Estimated time to reach is 7-7.30 PM. Plan your journey / stay accordingly and cherish the memories of this short and sweet trek. Have a safe journey!
