Please read this document carefully before registering for any trek or outdoor event organized by Giripremi Adventure Foundation.
By registering for and participating in our Sahyadri Treks, you explicitly acknowledge, understand, and agree to the terms, conditions, and safety disclosures outlined below.
1. Nature of the Activity & Inherent Risks
Trekking and mountaineering in the Sahyadri range (Western Ghats) are adventure activities conducted in remote, rugged, and wild terrains. While Giripremi Adventure Foundation takes the utmost care, uses certified leaders, and implements strict safety protocols, these activities carry inherent risks.
These risks include, but are not limited to:
Environmental Hazards: Sudden weather changes, heavy downpours, flash floods, dense fog, extreme heat, landslides, and rockfalls.
Terrain Challenges: Slippery mud, exposed ridges, loose gravel, steep rock patches, and deep gorges.
Wildlife Interactions: Encounters with insects, bees, reptiles (including venomous snakes), and wild animals.
Physical Strain: Dehydration, exhaustion, heat stroke, altitude-related discomfort, or aggravation of pre-existing medical conditions.
2. Participant Health, Fitness, and Medical Responsibility
Physical Fitness: You certify that you are physically fit, mentally prepared, and adequately trained to undertake the difficulty level specified for the registered trek.
Medical Disclosure: You are required to fully disclose any pre-existing medical conditions (e.g., asthma, heart ailments, epilepsy, severe allergies, high blood pressure, or recent surgeries) to the trek leaders prior to departure.
Personal Medication: You agree to carry your own prescribed personal medications and a basic first-aid kit.
Medical Emergencies: In the event of injury or illness, Giripremi leaders will administer first aid and arrange for evacuation to the nearest medical facility. All emergency medical expenses, hospitalization, and transport costs will be borne entirely by the participant.
3. Leader Authority and Strict Discipline
To ensure the safety of the entire group, strict discipline is mandatory.
The Trek Leader/Guide possesses sole authority over the itinerary, route choices, and safety decisions during the trek.
Zero Tolerance Policy: The consumption of alcohol, smoking, narcotics, or psychotropic substances is strictly prohibited for the entire duration of the trek (from the assembly point to the return drop-off). Any participant found violating this rule will be immediately disqualified from the trek with no refund, and left at their own expense.
Straying away from the designated group, ignoring leader instructions, or engaging in reckless behavior (such as taking risky photos/selfies on cliff edges) is strictly prohibited.
4. Indemnity and Waiver of Liability
By signing up for this trek, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Giripremi Adventure Foundation, its founders, directors, trek leaders, volunteers, and agents from any and all liabilities, claims, demands, actions, or losses arising out of:
Any personal injury, sickness, disability, or loss of life during the trek.
Any loss, theft, or damage to personal belongings, trekking gear, or valuables.
Any delays, alterations, or cancellations of the itinerary due to force majeure, government restrictions, weather anomalies, or political unrest.
5. Environmental Ethics (Leave No Trace)
Giripremi is deeply committed to preserving the fragile ecology of the Sahyadris. You agree to strictly follow the "Leave No Trace" policy. Littering (plastic wrappers, bottles, wet wipes, etc.), damaging flora/fauna, or defacing historic fort structures will result in disciplinary action.
6. Media & Photography Release
Giripremi Adventure Foundation reserves the right to use photographs, videos, or audio recordings taken during the trek featuring participants for institutional promotion, social media, and educational purposes. If you object to this, please inform the team in writing before the trek commences.
