Rajgad (literal meaning the Ruling Fort) is a Hill fort situated in the Pune district of Maharashtra, India. Formerly known as Murumdev, the fort was the first capital of the Maratha Empire under the rule of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for almost 26 years, after which the capital was moved to the Raigad Fort. Treasures discovered from an adjacent fort called Torna were used to completely build and fortify the Rajgad Fort.

Torna, also known as Prachandagad is a popular route in Maharashtra, leading to Torna Fort, captured by Shivaji Maharaj at the age of 16. This was the first fort captured by Chhatrapati. Shivaji Maharaj. The trek starts from Velhe village, around 60 km south of Pune. The Fort is 1403 Meters tall. This fort is believed to have been constructed by the Shiva Panth in the 13th century.
