Nisargnaad trek to Kalsubai Peak

Nisargnaad trek to Kalsubai Peak

1 Day
No Fixed Departure Available!

The Kalsubai Peak Trek, often called the “Everest of Maharashtra,” offers a challenging but rewarding climb to the state’s highest point at 1,646 meters (5,400 feet). Located in the Ahmednagar district and starting from the base village of Bari, the trek winds through diverse terrain, from lush forests and rocky patches to open meadows. A key feature is the series of iron ladders that assist trekkers in the final ascent, adding an element of adventure. At the summit, a small temple dedicated to Goddess Kalsubai stands amidst panoramic views of the Sahyadri range, including neighboring forts like Harishchandragad and Ratangad. Typically a one-day trek, taking 4-5 hours to ascend and 3-4 to descend, it’s considered moderate to difficult and requires a reasonable level of fitness. The best time to visit is post-monsoon (September-December) or pre-summer (January-May) for pleasant weather, though monsoon trekking is possible but challenging. Be prepared for steep inclines, ladder climbs, varying weather, and potential crowds, especially on weekends and holidays. The Kalsubai trek is a must-do for those seeking breathtaking views and a sense of accomplishment in the heart of the Sahyadris.
