FAQs

How safe is this trek?

Har Ki Dun is a perfect trek for beginners with a couple of challenging sections. This is why it’s a trek we recommend to many beginners, families and even those starting trekking late in their lives. Definitely the rainy season around adds challenge to the trek but serene vistas of Oldest Trek in Himalayas and way towards Mt. Swargrohini will bestow you with never seen wonders.

Give me some fitness tips required for the trek

Trekkers are supposed to be in good physical conditions. You should increase the level of intensity of training over 2-3 months period. Apart from daily fitness, you should carry 3-5 KG load on your back during the practice treks. Strength training and routine cardio will help you simulate the trekking conditions.

Climate and Temperature during the trek

The weather in the season ranges from 10-20 degrees Celsius in lower places and 5 to 15 degrees Celsius as you go to higher positions. In this season, there is a high chance of some small showers, and the day remains a little overcast.

How many days actual trek will be?

Actual trekking days will be 5.

What are documents required for the trek?

1. GAF Indemnity Bond – (ADULT / MINOR) – Ask for the draft from GAF Team

2. GAF Medical form – Ask for the draft from GAF Team

3. Confirmed Air/Train ticket

Will there be Electricity at the campsites?

Raithal is the last points that are electrically connected.  However, the electricity is extremely intermittent and can be absent for the most part of the day during winter/late summer (when the monsoon starts to set in).

So, we strongly encourage you to bring additional batteries for your cameras and a power bank with more than 10,000 mAh to last you the entire trek.

Is Offloading available for this trek?

Having more footprint through porters or mules on any trail isn’t good for the ecosystem. This is why, at GAF, we do not encourage offloading. A trekker carries his/her own backpack in the true spirit of trekking.

But if — due to any reason — you are unable to carry your own backpack, you may offload your backpack.

The approximate cost of offloading on the Har ki Dun trek is Rs 2,000 for the trek.
