The Everest Base Camp Trek is a legendary 130 kilometer journey through the Khumbu region of Nepal that takes hikers to the foot of the highest mountain in the world. Starting with a thrilling flight to Lukla the trail winds through pine forests and suspension bridges to reach the bustling Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar and the spiritual center of Tengboche Monastery. Over the course of roughly two weeks trekkers face the challenge of high altitude as they slowly ascend past the tree line to reach the rocky outpost of Gorak Shep and eventually Base Camp itself at 5,364 meters. While Base Camp offers a close look at the famous Khumbu Icefall the nearby peak of Kala Patthar provides the most spectacular panoramic views of the Everest summit making this moderate to challenging adventure an unforgettable mix of Sherpa culture and breathtaking Himalayan scenery.
